Meghan Gill enters her fourth season as Associate Head Coach for the Richmond women’s soccer program in 2026.
In her third year on staff, Gill helped steer the Spiders through a 2025 campaign defined by defensive growth and significant individual development. Gill helped Richmond finish second in the Atlantic 10 in save percentage (.841) and sixth in shutout percentage while producing six clean sheets across the season. The Spiders opened the fall with a 5-0 win over VMI, their largest season-opening margin of victory since 2010, and earned results in three of their first four matches.
Gill also played a key role in Richmond’s individual success during the 2025 campaign, mentoring four Spiders who earned Atlantic 10 weekly honors: Emma Newman (Rookie of the Week, Aug. 18), Morgane Zinn (Rookie of the Week, Aug. 25), Julia Lishia (Co-Rookie of the Week, Sept. 2) and goalkeeper Veronica Rrapi, who received A-10 weekly recognition for her performances anchoring one of the league’s top defensive units. Gill also assisted in the development of Newman, who became Richmond’s first A-10 All-Rookie selection since 2016 and the program’s first all-conference honoree of any kind since 2019.
During the 2024 season, Gill helped guide Richmond to a 4-10-3 record and the program’s best start since 2008. The Spiders opened the year unbeaten through three matches (2-0-1) and posted their highest season goal total (12) since 2021. Richmond earned shutout wins over Longwood, Howard, Duquesne and George Mason while showing improved cohesion and balance across the field.
In her first season with the program in 2023, Gill contributed to Richmond’s season-opening win—the Spiders’ first since 2016—and supported individual players earning early-season Atlantic 10 weekly honors. Across her tenure, she has played an integral role in implementing a possession-oriented identity, elevating defensive structure, and developing a roster with improved depth and versatility.
A Lock Haven, Pa., native, Gill arrived at Richmond following five seasons on staff at Davidson College, where she served as recruiting coordinator beginning in 2021. During her tenure, she helped lead the Wildcats to a 15-12-6 record across the 2020-21 seasons and an appearance in the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship match.
Before Davidson, Gill was head coach at Davis & Elkins College, where she guided the Senators to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016 after capturing the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament title.
She previously spent four seasons at Columbia (Mo.) College, working with both the men’s and women’s programs. She was instrumental in launching the women’s program in 2012, helping the Cougars to 55 wins, three AMC regular-season titles, two tournament championships and three NAIA national tournament appearances.
In 2015, Gill was selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s prestigious 30-Under-30 program for rising coaches in the profession.
As a player, Gill was a standout midfielder and defender at Penn State, where she made 42 appearances and helped the Nittany Lions capture five straight Big Ten regular-season titles. She was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2008.
Gill holds a United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma and a USSF B license.
She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Penn State in 2012 and later completed an MBA from Columbia College in 2013.
