Errin Stanton enters his third season as Assistant Coach of the Spider Soccer coaching staff in 2025.
Â
In his second season with Richmond, Stanton helped the Spiders to a 4-10-3 overall record and a 2-7-1 mark in Atlantic 10 play. Richmond opened the season unbeaten through its first three matches (2-0-1)—its best start since 2008—and posted its highest goal total (12) since 2021. Stanton's expertise with the goalkeeping unit was evident as Richmond earned four shutouts and recorded 85 saves on the season, including standout 10-save performances in two separate matches.
Â
Stanton joined the Spider staff following a four-year stint as the goalkeeper coach with Davidson’s women’s soccer program. In 2022, he helped the Wildcats to a 13-3-4 record, a 5-2-3 mark in conference play, and a first-round Atlantic 10 Tournament win over Duquesne.
Â
A native of Tinton Falls, N.J., Stanton was a standout goalkeeper at Pfeiffer University. He earned All-Region Honorable Mention, two All-CVAC selections, and First Team All-Defensive honors during his collegiate career. A four-year starter, he went on to play professionally in the USL (D3), A-League, and MLS levels.
Â
“I am humbled and thrilled to help lead this group of young women and build on the incredible potential of this program,” Stanton said upon his arrival at Richmond. “These are very exciting times to be a part of the University of Richmond, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow this program alongside coach Denton.”
Â
Stanton brings coaching experience at multiple levels, having developed teams and goalkeepers in high school, elite club, and semi-professional environments.
Â
He earned his degree in criminal justice from Pfeiffer in 1998.
