WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Richmond field hockey's Clara Larripa tallied her third hat trick of the season Sunday, September 20, as the Spiders captured a 5-2 win over the William & Mary Tribe.

With the win, Richmond moves to 6-2 on the season and captures a second two-win weekend of the year. The Spiders jump back into Atlantic 10 Conference action, heading on the road to take on reigning A10 Champions Saint Joseph's Friday, Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. in Philadelphia on ESPN+.

Malena Magnano tallied the Spiders first goal of the day in the sixth minute of action. Leah Horwitz cleaned up a defensive scramble and found Magnano in the middle of the circle to set her up for the score.

Larripa scored her first goal in the 13^th minute to make it 2-0. Larripa spun past a first set of Tribe defenders to get into the circle then shot through two more to score.

Just over two minutes into the third quarter, Larripa scored again. Off a restart at the 25-meter line, Valen Luna Paratore found Larripa in the circle, who then pushed the ball low past the Tribe goalkeeper as she faded away from the goal.

Just two minutes later in the third quarter, on a Spider penalty corner, Avery Russell picked up her first goal of the season. Russell got behind the Tribe goalkeeper for the tip-in off Abril Peroni's first shot.

The Tribe broke up the shutout in the 39^th minute then converted a penalty stroke in the 44^th minute, both allowed by Mairead Carey in the third quarter.

Larripa finished her hat trick in the 43^rd minute, again driving through multiple William & Mary defenders to score on a diving shot. Larripa now leads the Spiders with 27 points on 12 goals and three assists through eight games.

Richmond held the upper hand in shots, 22-6, and shots on goal, 9-4, and earned more penalty corners, 8-3. Elen Nicholls also came up big for the Spider defense, collecting two defensive saves.
