Peroni Named A10 FH Rookie of the Week for Third Straight Week

WASHINGTON, DC – Richmond field hockey's Abril Peroni was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for a third-straight week, the league office announced on Monday.
Helping the Spiders to a 1-1 week with a shutout of Georgetown and a 2-1 loss to No. 5 North Carolina, Peroni was disruptor and distributor in the midfield. She forced numerous tackles to keep the ball in the Spiders attacking third in both contests.
Peroni is a big part of Richmond's defensive penalty corner unit, serving as the flyer and running straight toward the offensive attack attempt. Peroni, along with the DPC unit, in eight total chances over two games, did not allow a goal on a penalty corner, including holding Georgetown to just one penalty corner attempt.
Peroni and the Spiders (4-2) open Atlantic 10 Conference action hosting Davidson (4-3) Friday, Sept. 18 at Crenshaw Field. Game time is set for 5 PM on ESPN+ and will be streamed internationally on Atlantic10.com. Sunday, Sept. 20, Richmond will head to Williamsburg, Va, to face William & Mary at noon on FloSports.com.
