Unbeaten Streak Reaches Four as Spiders Tie Mount St. Mary's

EMMITSBURG, Md. — Richmond battled Mount St. Mary's to a 0-0 draw at Waldron Family Stadium Sunday to stretch its unbeaten streak to four games, the longest streak without a loss to open a season in program history. With the result, Richmond is now 2-0-2 on the season.
Mount St. Mary's controlled the game early, not allowing the Spiders to register a shot in the game's first 39 minutes. The Mountaineers outshot Richmond 5-1 in the opening half, as UR keeper Veronica Rrapi stopped both shots on goal she faced, making saves in the eighth and 10th minutes to keep the match scoreless.
The Spiders flipped the script after halftime, holding a 9-5 advantage in shots over the final 45 minutes. Emma Newman put Richmond's first shot on goal on frame less than a minute after halftime, while Morgane Zinn forced another save in the 59th minute.
Richmond and Mount St. Mary's finished even at 10 shots apiece and two shots on goal each, while the Spiders held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks and finished with 53% of the possession. Newman led Richmond with three shots. The game was delayed by 30 minutes due to lightning in the area with 7:09 remaining in the second half.
Isabel Seifert replaced Rrapi in net at halftime and did not face a shot on goal as the duo combined for Richmond's third shutout through four matches. The Spiders have allowed just one goal in 360 minutes this season and have not lost in their last seven games dating back to last season, going 3-0-4 in that span.
Richmond will return home Thursday to face Longwood at 5 p.m. at President's Field at River Road.
