RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond women's basketball standout Maggie Doogan has signed a professional contract with Baxi Ferrol in Spain.
Baxi Ferrol competes in Liga Femenina Endesa, the top division of women's basketball in Spain, giving Doogan the opportunity to begin her professional career in one of the country's premier leagues. Based in Ferrol, Spain, the club has also competed on the European stage in EuroCup Women.
"I'm super excited to continue to play the game that I love at the professional level," Doogan said. "I'm looking forward to challenging myself with the new level of competition and continuing to learn and improve as much as I can."
Doogan closed her Richmond career as one of the most decorated players in program history, finishing second all-time with 2,138 career points. The Broomall, Pa., native was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Year in each of her final two seasons, becoming the only Spider to earn the A-10 honor multiple times since Richmond joined the league and the first Richmond player to repeat as a conference player of the year since Pam Bryant earned back-to-back CAA honors in 1988-89 and 1989-90.
As a senior in 2025-26, Doogan started all 34 games and averaged 21.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game while shooting 50.6 percent from the field, 40.4 percent from three-point range and 89.0 percent from the free throw line. She led the Atlantic 10 in scoring and total points with 716, the highest single-season scoring total in Richmond history, while ranking among the league leaders in rebounding and assists.
Doogan's senior season included one of the signature performances in Richmond and Atlantic 10 history, as she scored a program-record, conference-record and NCAA season-high 48 points in a triple-overtime win over Davidson on Jan. 10. She also set Richmond's single-game record with 17 made field goals in the victory.
Following the season, Doogan earned honorable mention All-America recognition from the USBWA, WBCA and USA TODAY Sports. She was also named to the All-ECAC First Team, selected to the CSC Academic All-America Third Team and earned CSC Academic All-District honors.
A 6-foot-2 forward, Doogan was named to the Naismith Late-Season Team, the Becky Hammon Player of the Year Award Midseason Watch List and the Katrina McClain Award Midseason Top 10 during her final season. She was also named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week eight times, USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week twice and to the NCAA Starting 5 twice.
Doogan helped lead Richmond to one of the most successful stretches in program history, including the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship and regular-season title. She was named to the A-10 All-Championship Team as a sophomore, earned A-10 All-Conference First Team honors three times and was selected to the A-10 All-Rookie Team as a freshman.
A graduate of Cardinal O'Hara High School, Doogan will join Baxi Ferrol for the 2026-27 campaign. The season is expected to begin in the fall.
