RICHMOND, Va. — The University of Richmond women's basketball team has signed Emma Schoen, a 5-foot-7 guard from Sellersburg, Ind., Head Coach Alisa Kresge announced on Wednesday. Schoen will join the Spiders for the 2026-27 season and will join Alexandra Vandiver as the second signee under Kresge.
Schoen arrives at Richmond following a decorated career at Silver Creek High School, where she developed into one of the most accomplished guards in program history. A dynamic scorer and playmaker, she totaled 1,243 career points, ranking fourth all-time, while setting school records in three-pointers made with 222 and free throw percentage at 87 percent.
"Emma is highly skilled combo guard with an outstanding work ethic," Kresge said. "Her ability to shoot the ball along with her high basketball IQ elevates the play of those around her and brings great value on the court."
As a senior, Schoen set a program record with a 4.1 assist-to-turnover ratio while continuing to produce at a high level offensively. She owns single-season school records for three-pointers made with 72 and free throw percentage at 91 percent.
Schoen was a two-time IBCA Large School First Team All-State selection and earned multiple postseason honors, including ICGSA Second Team All-State recognition in back-to-back seasons. She was a three-time All-Mid-Southern Conference selection and earned three Courier Journal All-Area honors, along with multiple All-District and regional accolades.
On the national stage, Schoen was named a McDonald's All-American nominee and participated in the Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 60 workout, while also earning an invitation to the IBCA Top 100 Showcase. She helped lead Silver Creek to three straight Mid-Southern Conference championships during her career.
A versatile combo guard, Schoen is known for her deep shooting range, defensive activity and ability to create for others. She played AAU basketball for WV Thunder and consistently competed against high-level national competition.
