Sheridan Added to Tewaaraton Watch List
03/05/2026 | Men's Lacrosse
WASHINGTON — Senior captain midfielder and All-American Joe Sheridan has been added to the 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List, the foundation announced Thursday.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
Sheridan is one of 15 first-round additions to the list after the initial group was released in February, which included the other three All-American Spider captains: Aidan O'Neil, Hunter Smith and Jack Pilling.
The reigning Atlantic 10 Tournament MVP, Sheridan is off to a strong start in 2026 with 12 goals and six assists for the second-most points on the team.
Just this week, Sheridan was named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week and to the USILA Team of the Week after his performance against Cornell, where he led all players with four points — two goals and two assists — along with a ground ball to power the Spiders' comeback win. Trailing 7–5 with 11:59 remaining, Richmond closed the game on a decisive three-goal run, with Sheridan involved in each score. He assisted Lucas Littlejohn at 10:03 to cut the deficit to 7–6, scored the game-tying goal at 4:43, and then set up Gavin Creo for the game-winner with 1:04 to play.
Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season. The finalists will be honored and this year's recipients announced live on May 28 at the Tewaaraton Ceremony in Washington, D.C.
