Men's Golf Second in Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll
03/23/2026 | Men's Golf
RICHMOND, Va. — The Richmond men's golf team is No. 2 in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll, which was released by the conference Monday. The Spiders, who placed second at the A-10 Championship last season, received more first-place votes (five) than any other team in the poll, but Richmond's 130 points were three fewer than preseason favorite VCU, which received 133 points (and three first-place votes) in voting from the league's 12 head coaches.
Behind the Rams and Spiders are Rhode Island (125), George Mason (93), and Dayton (89) to round out the top five in the preseason rankings. URI received three first-place votes, and GMU received the final first-place vote.
The Spiders are coming off back-to-back tournament wins for the first time in 21 seasons under coach Adam Decker, having taken the team title at last week's Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate Classic in Southern Pines, N.C., and repeating as champs at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Ariz. in February. In that event, the Spiders set a program scoring record at 34-under par and sophomore Carson Baez won individual medalist honors at 17-under par, an individual program record. Richmond also shared the title at the season-opening Metropolis Intercollegiate in White Plains, N.Y., making 2025-26 Richmond's first season with three tournament wins since its 2000-01 campaign.
The 2026 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship will be held at Evermore Resort in Orlando, Fla. from April 27-29. Up next for the Spiders is UNCW's Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington, N.C. The 54-hole, two-day event begins March 30.
