Women’s Tennis Tallies Victories at WM Hidden Duals

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team picked up six match victories over the weekend in the WM Hidden Dual.
On Saturday, the Spiders picked up two singles and two doubles victories. Beatriz Guerra picked up a straight-set win over Veronika Pavlenko of ECU 6-6, 6-2. Daniela O'Leary was able to bounce back from dropping the first set to win in three, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 over Lilly Lancaster also on ECU's squad.
Sofia Barbulescu fell in three sets to Norfolk State's Yana Klimchuk 2-6, 6-3, 6-0. Lainy O'Neil suffered a close set back 7-5, 6-4 against Irina Iurea of NSU.
In doubles action, UR duo of Barbulescu and O'Neil collected a 6-4 win over Yurkova and Sabadie of NSU. Guerra and O'Leary teamed up to defeat Calvo and Lancaster of ECU, 6-4.
In Sunday's action, Guerra and O'Neil continued their hot streak, picking up singles victories, but dropped their doubles match up. Guerra collected a three-set win over Sophia Cedeno of UNCG 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. O'Neil outlasted ECU's Lancaster 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5).
Barbulescu fell 6-1, 6-2 to ECU's Kim Auerswald while O'Leary dropped a 6-3, 7-5 decision to Sanne Solomonsen of UNCG.
The Spiders duo of Guerra and O'Leary fell to Solomonsen and Thomson of UNCG, 6-3. ECU's de Grisogono and Jeromin picked up a close 6-4 win over Barbulescu and O'Neil.
