Richmond Swimming & Diving Announces 2026-27 Schedule

Richmond, Va. — Coming off its 13th Atlantic 10 championship under head coach Matt Barany, Richmond swimming and diving announced its 2026-27 schedule, featuring competition from October through March and highlighted by the Spiders' conference title defense at the Atlantic 10 Championships in February.
Richmond captured the 2026 A10 championship with 600 points, finishing 27.5 points ahead of runner-up George Washington. The title was the 13th of Barany's tenure, while Barany earned Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year honors for the 11th time.
The Spiders return four individual medalists who combined for seven podium finishes at last season's A-10 Championships. Senior Presley Baber headlines the group after winning the 100-yard freestyle, placing second in the 100 breaststroke and third in the 50 freestyle. Juniors Lena Amare and Gabbie Primiano finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 individual medley, while Primiano added a silver medal in the 200 breaststroke. Junior Hannah Wieczorek returns after placing third in the 200 backstroke.
Richmond also returns at least two members from each of its five relay lineups that finished first or second at the 2026 A-10 Championships. Baber and Wieczorek were part of the Spiders' A-10 conference and meet-record 200 freestyle relay, which won gold in 1:30.40. Baber, Amare and Wieczorek also return from the championship 200 medley relay, while Baber and Amare were part of Richmond's winning 400 freestyle relay. Senior Erin Budde, Primiano and Amare return from the runner-up 800 freestyle relay, while Baber, Amare and Wieczorek were members of the second-place 400 medley relay.
The Spiders open the season Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. with The Richmond Invitational at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex in Hampton, Va., before returning to the pool for The Richmond Duals on Oct. 10 at 10 a.m.
Richmond then travels to the Bronx, N.Y., to face Atlantic 10 opponent Fordham on Oct. 23 at 4 p.m.
The Spiders open November in Greenville, N.C., at the ECU Quad Meet on Nov. 7 at 1 p.m., competing against East Carolina, Georgia Southern and Campbell. Richmond will then head to Fairfax, Va., for the Patriot Invitational, held Nov. 18-21. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. with finals at 6 p.m.
Richmond closes the 2026 calendar year at the CSCAA Open Water Championship on Dec. 12 in Ocala, Fla.
The Spiders begin 2027 at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex for the Tribe Quad-Meet on Jan. 8, competing against William & Mary, Old Dominion and UNCW.
Richmond then competes on consecutive days against James Madison and Villanova. The Spiders travel to Harrisonburg, Va., to face James Madison on Jan. 15, with diving beginning at 10 a.m. and swimming at noon.
Richmond returns home the following day for its lone home meet of the season, hosting Villanova at the Robins Center Natatorium on Jan. 16. Diving begins at 10 a.m. followed by swimming at noon.
The Spiders head to Charlottesville, Va., for the Cavalier Invite Feb. 4-6 in their final competition before returning to Hampton to defend their conference crown at the Atlantic 10 Championships Feb. 17-20 at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex.
Select Spiders will return to Charlottesville for the Cavalier Last Chance Meet Feb. 26-27 before postseason competition continues in March.
NCAA Zone Diving is scheduled for March 6-10 in Morgantown, W.Va., followed by the National Invitational Championship March 11-13 in Ocala, Fla. The 2026-27 schedule concludes with the NCAA Championships March 17-20 in Austin, Texas.
