MIDLOTHIAN, Va. — Richmond and Florida Atlantic shared the team title at UR's Spider Invitational Tuesday, finishing the 54-hole event with identical scores of 15-over par (879). The win was Richmond's first of the season and gave UR a tournament title in six straight seasons dating back to 2021-22.
The Spiders and Owls finished 15 shots clear of the rest of the seven-team field after FAU entered the day six shots behind UR. FAU carded a final-round 293 (+5) to catch Richmond (11-over 299) at the end of Tuesday's final round.
Freshman Carter Bransford registered her best finish of the season, tying for second in the field of 43rd at 2-over par (218) and becoming the first Spider freshman with a top-two finish since Hannah Lydic won the 2022 Kingsmill Intercollegiate.
Senior Maya Beasley also finished in the top five, tying for fifth at 5-over par (221) to record her seventh career top-five result. Freshman Stella Moritz registered her first top-10 finish, tying for ninth at 7-over par (223). Moritz's 1-over 73 was two shots better than any other Spider Tuesday.
Junior Katie Magner and sophomore Addie Doroh were among a group of five golfers to tie for 14th at 9-over par (225). It was the first top-20 finish of the season for both Magner and Doroh.
Competing as individuals, junior Caroline Thompson tied for 38th (26-over 242) and senior Heather Appelson placed 43rd (34-over 250).
Richmond will conclude its fall season Monday at the 36-hole Keswick Cup in Keswick, Va.
