Richmond, Va. — University of Richmond freshman wide receiver Bryce Allen has been named to the 2026 Stats Perform Jerry Rice Award Watch List, recognizing the top freshman players in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), the organization announced Tuesday.
Allen is one of 30 players nationally and two from the Patriot League selected to the in-season watch list for the award, which honors the FCS freshman player of the year. William & Mary defensive back Cade Ellis is the other Patriot League representative.
Through seven games, Allen leads Richmond with 29 receptions for 361 yards and four touchdowns. The 6-foot-3, 206-pound receiver has appeared in all seven games for the Spiders, making six starts.
Allen opened his collegiate career with four receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns in Richmond's 35-14 season-opening victory over Bucknell on Aug. 29. His debut included a 75-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Ashten Snelsire.
Named after Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, who played collegiately at Mississippi Valley State, the award is in its 16th year and has previously recognized Cooper Kupp, Chase Edmonds, Trey Lance, Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.
The Jerry Rice Award is one of six honors presented as part of the Stats Perform FCS National Awards. Both true and redshirt freshmen are eligible, with a national media panel selecting the winner following the regular season from a group of finalists.
Allen and the Spiders return to action Saturday when they host Colgate for Homecoming at Robins Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
