Football Announces 15-Date Spring Practice Schedule

Richmond, Va.– University of Richmond football head coach Russ Huesman announced a 15-date spring football practice schedule on Tuesday. Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with Friday and Saturday dates mixed into the schedule.
Spring practice will conclude with the annual Spring Game on April 11 at 4 p.m. at Robins Stadium. Dates and times are subject to change, and fans are encouraged to monitor RichmondSpiders.com and the program's social media channels for updates. All practices are open to the public, with viewing available from the west concourse stands of Robins Stadium (College Road side).
Richmond finished the 2025 season with a 7–5 overall record and a 3–4 mark in conference play. Under Huesman's leadership, 11 Spiders earned the program's first-ever Patriot League All-League selections. During the season, Huesman became the second-winningest coach in program history when the Spiders earned a 38–14 home-opening victory over VMI, marking his 54th career win at the helm of Richmond football. The season concluded with Richmond rallying from a 14–0 halftime deficit to defeat William & Mary in the Capital Cup, extending the Spiders' edge in the rivalry to 67–64–4. Defensively in 2025, Richmond ranked fourth overall and first in the Patriot League in passing defense, allowing 155.3 yards per game, while finishing second in the conference in scoring defense at 22.7 points per game and third in interceptions with 11. The Spiders also ranked second in the Patriot League and sixth nationally in total defense, holding opponents to 290.3 yards per game. Offensively, Richmond ranked third in the Patriot League in rushing with 1,772 yards, averaging 147.7 yards per game, while the offensive line allowed just 14 sacks on the season (1.17 per game), ranking third in the league and 14th nationally at the FCS level. Quarterback Kyle Wickersham led the Patriot League in completion percentage at 64.6 percent.
Richmond will kick off the 2026 season, which includes six games at Robins Stadium, at home on Aug. 29 when it hosts Patriot League foe Bucknell. Game times will be announced at a later date. Fans should stay tuned for updates on 2026 single-game and season ticket deposits and renewals.
