RICHMOND,Va. — A pair of Spiders have been named to the 2025 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Golf Teams, the conference announced Tuesday. Cole Ekert, a senior, is one of five players on the men's team while Hannah Lydic, a junior, made the inaugural women's team.
The teams are comprised of student-athletes who excelled on the course and in the classroom during the 2024-25 school year. Nominees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater, be at least a sophomore academically and in terms of athletic eligibility, and be a starter or significant reserve on his or her team. The league's public relations directors select the five-member teams from among the pool of nominees.
Ekert set the Spiders single-season men's golf scoring record in 2024-25, leading the team with a 70.87 stroke average. He finished second in three events, including the Atlantic 10 Championship in April, and registered seven top-20 finishes over the course of the season. In May, Ekert graduated from the Robins School of Business with a degree in Business Administration.
Ekert is the seventh different Spider to earn A-10 All-Academic honors under coach Adam Decker and the first since Lou Baker was recognized in 2021 and 2024.
Lydic won the individual Atlantic 10 title while leading Richmond to a win at the inaugural A-10 Women's Golf Championship in April. She paced the Spiders at the NCAA Regionals in Charlottesville, where she recorded the best finish ever by a Spider women's golfer at an NCAA Regional (tied for 30th). Lydic is currently pursuing her degree in the Robins School of Business and is expected to graduate next May.
Lydic is the first Spider to earn conference All-Academic honors since Vicky Zhu was named to the Patriot League All-Academic team in 2023.
