RICHMOND, Va. — The Richmond Spiders will compete in the Charlottesville Regional of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships on May 5-7, the NCAA announced Wednesday. Richmond, which earned the automatic bid from the Atlantic 10 after winning the inaugural conference championship last Saturday, will compete along with 11 other teams and six individuals at Birdwood Golf Course. The top five teams from each of the six regional sites will advance to compete at the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. from May 16-21.
The trip will mark a return to Birdwood for the Spiders, who competed at the Cavaliers Regional Preview at the course last September, placing 12th.
This will be Richmond's fifth team appearance in the NCAA Championship and first since 2023, when the team competed in the Raleigh regional after winning the Patriot League Championship.
The Spiders captured the Atlantic 10 Women's Golf title Saturday with a team score of 921 (+57), eight strokes in front of runner-up Dayton. Junior Hannah Lydic won the individual title with a 54-hole score of 8-over par (224).
