RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team has the honor of highlighting junior Davis Wiley as this week's Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week. The recognition marks the Spiders' fourth weekly award of the season, with Dylan Atkinson earning the honor on March 11 and Sam Rathmanner picking up two Rookie of the Week nods earlier in the year.
Wiley, an Arlington, Va., native, led the way for Richmond in its 6-1 win over Duquesne, delivering a dominant performance in both singles and doubles play while helping UR improve to 8-6 overall and secure its first A-10 win.
Wiley and partner Cole Brashear set the tone early in doubles, securing a decisive 6-2 victory over Vogelaar and Duclos (DUQ) on the top court, helping Richmond clinch the doubles point. He carried that momentum into singles, where he was in control from start to finish, defeating Alfrendo Vogelaar (DUQ) 6-2, 6-2 on court one.
The Spiders are back in action April 9, hosting Longwood at the Westhampton Tennis Complex at 2 p.m. before traveling to New York City for a pair of A-10 matchups, facing Fordham on April 11 and George Mason on April 12.
