
Richmond Competes at Day 1 of National Invitational Championship

OCALA, Fla. – Ten members of the Richmond women's swimming team competed at the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America National Invitational Championship today. Highlighting the day was freshman Lena Amare, who competed in the finals of the 200 IM.

In the 200 IM, Amare finished 19th and qualified for the finals with a time of 2:02.87, moving on to the B finals. In the finals, Amare finished 18th with a time of 2:02.63.

In the finals, the 200 free relay finished 16th with a time of 1:33.75. The 400 medley relay finished 15th with a time of 3:44.22.

In the 50 back, freshman Hannah Wieczorek finished with a time of 25.91 and placed 25th. Junior Caroline Weldon finished 36th with a time of 26.26.

Freshman Carys Edgar finished 29th in the 500 free with a time of 4:56.44. Sophomore Erin Budde finished 33rd with a time of 4:57.72.

In the 200 IM, junior Katie Chignell finished 34th with a time of 2:04.54, and freshman Gabbie Primiano tied for 36th with a time of 2:04.58.

In the 50 breast, Primiano finished 34th with a time of 29.23, and sophomore Presley Baber finished 42nd with a time of 29.50.

The Spiders are back in action tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. for the second day of the CSCAA NIC.
