Rathmanner Tabbed A-10 Under Armour Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team has the honor of highlighting freshman Sam Rathmanner as this week's Atlantic 10 Conference Under Armour Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office on Wednesday. This is the first weekly honor of the season for the Spiders and first of Rathmanner's career.
Rathmanner, a Mahtomedi, Minn., native, played a key role for the Spiders this week, delivering a perfect singles performance as the Spiders split their matches against Georgetown and Navy in Annapolis, Md. The rookie helped Richmond secure a 5-2 victory over Georgetown on Saturday with a commanding singles win, defeating Burke Pablo (Georgetown) 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot.
On Sunday against a tough Navy squad, Rathmanner picked up the lone singles win for UR with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Buckingham (Navy) as the Spiders dropped the match 6-1.
The Spiders are back in action on March 1, as the team travels to JMU for a matchup against the Dukes at 2 p.m. before playing host to NCAA D-III member Randolph-Macon on March 7 at 3 p.m. at home.
