
Spiders Fall Short at William & Mary Thursday Evening

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. Despite a strong push offensively in the final 10 minutes, the University of Richmond women's soccer team couldn't find the equalizer as the team dropped a close-knit battle on the road to William & Mary Thursday evening, 1-0. With the setback, Richmond fell to 2-2-1 on the season while the Tribe improved to 4-2-0.

How it Happened
W&M got off to a strong start, posting back-to-back shots before a third rebound effort found its way past McKenna Dalfonso for an early 1-0 Tribe lead. Both teams exchanged bouts of possession throughout the half following the goal, but neither team saw another chance heading into the second 45.
The Spiders found some offensive rhythm in the second half as Grace Ferrara posted a shot in the 55th minute before Kiley Fitzgerald nearly equalized the game but was denied by the post. Brigitte Bussiere and Hutton would post a few more shots as the second half expired but would be unable to capitalize as the Tribe took the victory, 1-0.

The Spiders will look to snap their two-match skid on Sunday, as the team plays host to American at Presiden's Field at 2 p.m. The team will then be back on the road for a matchup at Radford on Sept. 12 at 5 p.m.
