ORLANDO, Fla. – Behind Polina Shitikova's second-straight match-winning clinch on singles court No. 6, the University of Richmond women's tennis team outlasted No. 4 Fordham, 4-1, in the Atlantic 10 Conference semifinal match Friday afternoon. With the win, the Spiders earned a spot in the A-10 Championship match for the first time since 2021 and will take on No. 3-seeded Massachusetts Saturday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.

How it Happened
The improved 11-10 Spiders again gave up the doubles point to begin the match. Richmond duo Claire Le Du and Andrea Campodonico defeated Alhach/Xie (FOR) on court one, but two back-to-back wins on courts two and three would give the Rams the advantage heading into singles action. Leonor Oliveira tied the match at 1-1 with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 win over Xie (FOR) on court three and Campodonico again came up huge on court one, 7-6(4), 6-3, to put the Spiders ahead 2-1. Fordham was able to tie the match at two with a win on court four, but a huge comeback victory by Elizabeth Novak, 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 over Zhou (FOR) on court five would give Richmond a lift in the final two matches. Shitikova, with her second-straight match clinch, downed Shea (FOR), 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(3) on court six to hand the Spiders the 4-2 win.
