Women’s Tennis Finishes A-10 Action with win over George Washington Sunday Afternoon

PHILADELPHIA – Behind key singles victories by Lara Bakhaya, Elizabeth Novak and Polina Shitikova, the University of Richmond women's tennis team completed an undefeated road swing in Philadelphia on Sunday, picking up a 4-1 win over George Washington. Following the victory, and the win over Saint Joseph's on Saturday, the Spiders improved to 8-9 overall and finished Atlantic 10 Conference action at 4-4.

How it Happened
The Revolutionaries were able to get a lone doubles win off on court No. 1 before Lara Bakhaya and Polina Shitikova downed Sasinka/Ramirez (GW) 6-2 on court two. Elizabeth Novak and Lainey O'Neil clinched the doubles point for Richmond with a 6-1 win over Thompson/Bell (GW) on court No. 3.

In singles, GW was again able to get a victory on on court one before Bakhaya put the Spiders back ahead with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Ramirez (GW) on court four. Novak then defeated Thompson (GW) 6-0. 6-1, on court five and Polina Shitikova clinched the match for Richmond, 4-1, with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Ishiguchi (GW) on singles court six.
