
Scully, Kurtz lead the Spiders at the ECU Pirate Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Richmond men's and women's cross country teams finished in the top 15 at the Pirate Invitational hosted by East Carolina University on Friday morning at Lake Kristi. The women finished 7thwhile the men finished 12th in the third race of the season.Â

Leading the women, was senior Laurel Kurtz who placed 14th out of 209 participants, finishing at 22:06.2. This is the third time Kurtz has paced the women this season.Â

Finishing in the top 50, junior Paige Joyce finished at 22:53.1 placing 44th, sophomore Charlotte Hudson placed 48th finishing at 22:58.0 and freshman Hallie Muniz finished at 22:58.9 placing 49th.

Finishing in the top 100, junior Brooke Reif finished 53rd at 23:05.0, junior Phoebe Rubio finished 69th at 23:14.1 and freshman Melina Johnston finished at 23:35.3 placing 86th.Â

Sophomore Eric Scully led the men who ran 25:10.2 finishing 61st out of 215 participants.Â

Finishing in the top 100, freshman Brady Barber finished in 74th at 25:21.2. Running a personal best, junior Cooper Groat finished at 25:42.9 placing 94th and junior William Marhold also ran a personal best at 25:44.1 finishing in 95th place.Â

Graduate student John Vogel finished at 26:05.3 placing 120th and Jason Latina crossed the finish line with a new personal best at 26:07.2 placing 123rd.Â
