
Spiders Notch Second A-10 Victory at George Mason Sunday Afternoon

FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Richmond women's soccer team posted two early goals for a 2-0 Atlantic 10 Conference win over George Mason Sunday afternoon on the road. With the victory, the Spiders improve to 4-9-2 on the year and 2-6 in A-10 conference play and also snapped a six-match skid while the Patriots fell to 3-9-5 on the year and 1-4-3 in conference action.

How it Happened
Richmond opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Kelly Hutton found the net after a pass from JoJo McShane. Just seven minutes later, Hutton returned the favor, setting up Kiley Fitzgerald for the second Spider goal of the game and Fitzgerald's third goal of the season. Richmond maintained their two-goal lead with strong defensive play, including a one-save shutout by McKenna Dalfonso, who posted her 25th career shutout and fourth at Richmond.
The Spiders controlled the pace throughout the game with nine total shots, six of them on target, while limiting George Mason to six shots, only one of which was on target.
Notes on the Game
The Spiders will look to round out the 2024 season with a road trip to Sr. Bonaventure on Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. followed by the regular season finale against La Salle on Oct. 27 at 1:30 p.m. at President's Field.
