WASHINGTON, D.C. – Despite a pair of singles wins from Andrea Campodonico and Carly Cohen, the University of Richmond Women's Tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at Georgetown Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Spiders fell to 0-2 on the young season while the Hoyas improved to 1-2.

How it Happened
In doubles action, Spider duo Lainey O'Neil and Cohen were defeated 6-2 on court two by Novikov/Gilbert (GU), while Campodonico and Claire Le Du narrowly dropped a tough doubles match on court one, 7-6 to Bendetti/Garfolo-Ro (GU). Polina Shitikova and Lara Bakhaya were the final doubles match to finish, as the pair dropped a 6-4 decision to Zelenko/Ashton(GU) to put the Hoyas up 1-0.

In singles, Cohen secured a huge win over Zelenko (GU), 6-1, 6-2 on court two, and Campodonico picked up another win for the Spiders on singles court one, 7-6, 6-4. Novak dropped a tough battle on court four, 7-5, 6-3 to Willy (GU), before Leonor Olveira took Garofolo (GU) to three sets and narrowly fell 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. To round out the match, Shitikova fell 6-4, 6-0 on court six to Novikov (GU), and Le Du fell 6-3, 6-4 on court five for a 5-2 Georgetown win.
