RICHMOND, Va. – The NCAA released updated four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores for its member institutions and their associated teams Tuesday, with three Richmond Athletics programs earning perfect scores of 1,000. Spider Field Hockey, Spider Men's Cross Country, and Spider Women's Golf all received the highest possible APR score of 1,000 for the four-year period that now includes all data through the 2021-22 academic year.

All 16 Spider teams (including indoor and outdoor track & field as one team), received scores of 974 or higher, well above the 930 required by the NCAA.

Each year, Division I sports teams across the country calculates their APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for remaining eligible and 1 point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.
The NCAA's Academic Performance Program has established an essential framework for academic excellence. The program provides measurable goals to ensure schools are fulfilling their commitment to equipping student-athletes with the tools and resources necessary to achieve academic success.
