Spiders Blanked by No. 24 Saint Louis Sunday Afternoon

SAINT LOUIS, Mo.  Behind a fiery Billiken offense, the University of Richmond Women's Soccer team dropped a tough battle, 4-0, at No. 24 Saint Louis Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Spiders fell to 3-8-3 on the year and 1-5-0 in the Atlantic 10 while SLU improved to 10-2-2 and 5-0-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Billikens opened the match with a few dangerous looks on goal, but the Spider defense would hold steady until the 16th minute, where SLU finally capitalized following a scramble inside the Richmond box. SLU tacked on another goal in the 24th minute off of a corner kick to put Saint Louis up 2-0. Sophomore Marisa Snee would put up just the second shot for the Spiders in the 45th minute, but the Spiders would end the half down 2-0.
 
SLU opened the second half with a goal in the 50th minute and would put up their final goal in the 63rd minute. Senior Elyse Kimball would put up a shot in the 88th minute but would be collected by the Billiken keeper for the 4-0 win.
 
NOTES ON THE GAME
The Spiders will look to bounce back on Thursday, as the team takes on Loyola Chicago at 8 p.m. ET on the road. The team will return to President's Field at River Road on Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. against Davidson.

 - Brinkley Douglas made her collegiate debut against Saint Louis and recorded 10 minutes.
 - The series record against the Billikens moved to 2-12-1.
