RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond's Spider Athletic Fund announced Erin Mattone as the new Athletic Donor Relations Coordinator, Tuesday. Mattone joins the Spiders after finishing her graduate work with VCU's Center for Leadership Studies (CSL) this spring.
"We are excited to have Erin join the Spider Athletic Fund team," Assistant Athletic Director for Annual Giving Katherine Bulifant said. "Her personal student-athlete experience, attention to detail, and eagerness to center SAF activities around the Spider student-athlete experience, will be greatly valued as she develops ways to engage alumni, students, and community members and through a new athletics donor relations program."
Mattone graduated in May from the CSL program and was honored with the Student Achievement Award for the 2021-22 class as voted on by the faculty and staff in the program.
During her time in the CSL, she was a development graduate assistant with the Ram Athletic Fund. While at the Ram Athletic Fund, Mattone solicited gift donations for fundraising events, planned development events and cultivated relationships with current and potential donors.
Prior to VCU, she spent five months as the athletics department intern at Benedictine Schools of Richmond while also spending time working with the Madison Square Garden Sports Corporation as a student associate in 2020. She supported season ticket member services and retention efforts at MSG and worked with various ticketing initiatives, including children-them event concepts for season ticket holders.
Mattone was a 2021 graduate at Randolph-Macon with a degree in business/management. She was a four-year letterwinner on the women's lacrosse team at RMC, serving as team captain as a junior and senior. She was a four-time All-Academic selection in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and a four-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
