Spiders Clinch First A-10 Victory with Win Over George Mason

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Spiders clinched their first Atlantic 10 victory Friday afternoon with a 4-1 win over George Mason at the Westhampton Tennis Courts.

The duo of Emily Dunbar and Sara Salemyr opened things up with a quick 6-1 doubles win on court one, and after being tied at 5-5 on court three, Carly Cohen and Marta Buendia clinched the doubles point for Richmond with a 7-5 win.

The Spiders took a 3-1 lead in the match with straight-set victories by Helene Heiberg on court three and Buendia on court five.

Dunbar then clinched the match with a 7-6, 6-1 win on court one.

The Spiders are right back at it Saturday afternoon with a match at George Washington beginning at 1 p.m.
