
Spiders Down Nova Southeastern in 6-1 Win

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team wrapped up its Spring Break trip to Florida on a high note, defeating Nova Southeastern on Wednesday afternoon, 6-1.
The Spiders dropped out to an early lead with a doubles point win. Kiana Marshall and Lyndell Giffenig paired up at the No. 1 spot and defeated Andrea Ivanovic and Daniela Obando, 9-7. Despite a loss on court 2, the Spiders won the point by default.
In singles play, the Spiders jumped out to a larger lead with a default win on court 6. Ana Ramirez took a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 over Alexandra Yeardley, and Giffenig defeated Isabella Lowrey on court 5, 6-1, 6-4, to make it 3-0.
Emily Dunbar made it 4-0 with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Ana Navas on court 1, and Marshall rounded out the 6-1 score with a 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 10-6 comeback win over Ivanovic on court 2.
The Spiders return to action on March 21 when they host James Madison in their home opener on the newly renovated Westhampton Courts. Match time is set for 2:30pm.
