Tennis With Dominant 6-1 Road Victory Over UMBC

BALTIMORE, Md.- In a dominant display of tennis, the women's team picked up a 6-1 win over UMBC on Saturday.
Anna Abadias and Emily Gitman continue their hot doubles streak, picking up an 8-1 victory at the No. 3 position. The duo has now won five straight matches and is 7-3 on the year. Alex Smyth and Elizabeth Sims secured the doubles point at the No. 2 position with an 8-4 win.
The Spider dominance flowed over to singles play, where Richmond won five of the six points. Melissa Kandinata picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 1 position to win her fourth consecutive match.
Elizabeth Sims dueled Isabel Aldunate to three sets at the No. 2 position. In the third set, Sims confidently picked up a 6-3 win to take point.
Anna Abadias picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win to pick up her seventh win of the season, while fellow freshman Emily Gitman put together a 6-1, 6-4 win.
Alex Smyth stretched her win streak to four with a 7-6, 6-4 victory at the No. 6 spot.
Richmond is now 7-11 on the year and 3-0 in conference play.
The Spiders will face regional competitor, Liberty, on Tuesday at home.
