UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The Richmond women's tennis team fell to Old Dominion, 5-2 this past weekend in Richmond, Va.
"This was a heart-breaker,"said head coach Mark Wesselink. "We literally lost by a few strokes. We were up in doubles with chances to put it away and couldn't come up with the shots. Singles was just as close with two matches that probably swung on a couple big points. Give credit to ODU for out playing us on the big points and playing better pressure tennis. If this is building character, we should have an abundance of it by A-10's."
The Spiders picked up a win in doubles action with Alexandra Smyth and Sydney Grant def. Marija Citic/Juliana Pires, 8-1. Richmond also recorded two victories in singles play with No. 2 Kelly Tidwell and No. 5 Grand defeating their opponents.
The Spiders play at North Carolina State Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
