Women's Tennis Falls At Old Dominion, 5-2

NORFOLK, Va. - The Richmond women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to the undefeated Old Dominion Monarchs (6-0) on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Ashlee Vosters earned wins at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles in the Spiders' loss.
Vosters paired up with Pamela Duran at No. 2 doubles for the Spiders' only win in doubles action and the duo's fourth (4-2) of the spring season.
Robin Carter and Vosters then went on to earn the only wins for the Spiders in singles play. Carter recorded a win over Fernanda Luiz at second singles, while Vosters took a 6-4, 6-1 win over Jana Kubickova at fourth singles.
"They played very well," stated Richmond head coach Mark Wesselink. "ODU had a nice team. We are looking forward to getting our team healthy and putting a healthy team on the court. I think we can play with anyone but we need to be injury free."
"We've got Maryland next, an ACC opponent. We expect them to be very strong; things aren't going to get any easier. We're in the toughest part of our schedule. I still like our team unity and our work ethic is strong. Hopefully, all of this adversity will teach us something. It will go our way soon."
The Spiders (0-4, 0-1 in A-10) resume play at Maryland on Feb. 17 at 1:00 p.m.
