UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - After winning four-straight matches, the University of Richmond women's tennis team dropped to the No. 21 VCU Rams (20-0), 1-6, on the University of Richmond campus. Jessica Hubbard earned a win at No. 6 singles as the Spiders fell to 9-7 on the year.
Despite the loss, Richmond head coach Mark Wesselink was pleased with his team's performance. "We battled hard," stated Wesselink. "The other team played well. This is the kind of match that makes you want to get better. This will help us. We are a strong team right now; we just got outplayed by a stronger team. I'm still expecting great things from us."
The Spiders will return to action on April 7 with a match against Massachusetts at Washington, D.C. at noon.
