
Women's Soccer Falls to Oregon State 2-0

RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss tonight at Sports Backers Stadium in the first game of the inaugural VCU/Eurosport Invitational. The Spiders fall to 1-3 while the Beavers continue their undefeated record, improving to 5-0.
Oregon State took a 1-0 lead just one minute into the game when Stacey Mescher took a cross from Jodie Taylor and knocked the ball into the top left corner of the goal. Richmond took three shots during the remainder of the half but was unable to score.
At the 78:42 mark, the Beavers built a two-goal lead off Joy Janelle's goal. Liz Money assisted on the score.
Richmond goalkeeper Kelly Kolker recorded two saves and Melissa Onstad made three saves in the net for the Beavers.
Junior Hillary Prince and sophomore Kelsey Blank led the Spiders with two shots each.
The teams were equal in both shots (7) and corner kicks (4).
Richmond faces Seton Hall on Sunday, September 12 at 3:00 in the tournament's final contest.
