Women's Soccer Blanked By Top-Ranked North Carolina, 2-0

DURHAM, N.C. -- Senior goalkeeper Megan Cox made 12 saves to keep University of Richmond in the contest against top-ranked North Carolina at the Duke adidas Classic in Durham, N.C. The Tar Heels used two second-half goals to capture the victory on Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, North Carolina's (9-0) Lori Chalupny blasted a goal from 16 yards at 68:59. Lindsay Tarpley, who tied for a team-high with six shots, added an insurance goal in the 85th minute to seal the Tar Heel victory.
Richmond (1-4-1) was out-shot 28-4, including 23-1 in the second half. UNC's Aly Winget made one save.
Freshman Kelsey Blank and seniors Bethany Shewmaker and Cox all recieved All-Tournament accolades.
The Spiders open Atlantic 10 action with a 4 p.m. game against George Washington on Friday, Sept. 26.
