
Women's Tennis Downs Coastal Carolina, 5-2

CONWAY, S.C. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team won its third consecutive match Tuesday afternoon as it defeated Coastal Carolina, 5-2, in Conway, S.C. With the victory, Richmond evens its record to 5-5 while the Lady Chanticleers suffer their second defeat of the season and fall to 8-2.
The Spiders won four of the six singles matches on the afternoon, led by sophomore Jeannette Cluskey (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) who was victorious at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-1, 7-6 (8-6) over Emma Kidd. Coming in to the match, Kidd had a career record of 107-15 and was 8-1 this spring. Also winning in straight sets was freshman Lindsay Cox (Finchampstead, Workingham Berks, UK/Edgbarrow), who easily disposed of Lara Lendenmann at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Junior Casey Cohen (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./The Bolles School) and freshman Courtney Klein (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) also won their matches at the No. 4 and 5 positions, respectively. Richmond also picked up the doubles point, sweeping Coastal Carolina in the three matches.
