Women's Tennis Cruises Past East Carolina, 6-1

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team defeated East Carolina Friday afternoon, 6-1. The Spiders swept all six singles matches in straight sets en route to the victory over their former conference foe.
In singles competition, Jeannette Cluskey defeated Raluca Baicu in the No.1 match-up by a score of 6-3, 6-4, while Vanessa Bagnato bested Emily Kohl, 6-1, 6-1, in the No.2 match. Lindsay Cox defeated Lyndall Jordan in the No. 3 position, 6-1, 7-5, and Casey Cohen took care of Meredith Spears, 6-1, 7-6. In the No.5 match-up, Courtney Klein claimed the victory over Paulina Sierpinski, 6-4, 6-2, and Patty Devlin won by the same score versus Cristina Meilicke at the No. 6 position. The Spiders were defeated in all three doubles matches.
With the win, Richmond improves to 3-5 on the season while the Pirates fall to 4-4.
