
Women's Tennis Drops Match at Virginia Tech, 6-1

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team was defeated by Virginia Tech Saturday morning, 6-1. Freshman Lindsay Cox picked up the lone point for the Spiders as she improved to 4-1 in the spring.
After splitting the first two sets at the No. 3 spot, Cox won the super tie-breaker to claim the victory over Carolyn Kramer, 6-4, 6-7(5), 10-5. Juniors Vanessa Bagnato and Casey Cohen again took matches beyond the second set, but came up short at the No. 2 and 4 spots, respectively. Sophomore Patty Devlin lost in the third set at the No. 6 spot while the 75th ranked Hokies won in straight sets at the No. 1 and 5 positions. Virginia Tech also swept the doubles matches to claim the 6-1 victory.
The Spiders (2-3) return to action Sunday, February 17 as they hit the road to face William & Mary at 11:00 a.m.
