
Women's Tennis Records 5-2 Win Over American

WASHINGTON, D.C. --The University of Richmond women's tennis team captured four singles matches and claimed the doubles point to notch a 5-2 victory over conference foe American Thursday afternoon at Reeves Courts on the campus of American University.
At No. 1 singles, Spider freshman Jeannette Cluskey (Minneapolis, Minn./Edna) posted a straight sets (6-3, 6-0) victory over Irina Bovina. Vanessa Bagnato (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) bested Jacqueline Hagen at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
Monika Peets (Tallinn, Estonia/Tallinn Science School) and Casey Cohen (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./The Bolles School) were winners at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, respectively.
Richmond swept all three doubles matches. Cluskey teamed with Jodi Kenoyer (Lighthouse Point, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) to grab an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles while at two doubles, Bagnato and Peets won decisively posting an 8-1 decision. Patty Devlin (York, Pa./York Suburban) and Michele Koclanes (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) were 9-7 winners at the third spot. Richmond (7-10, 3-2 CAA) next entertains cross-town rival VCU on Monday, April 16 at 2:30 p.m.
