Blake Ellett has 20 years of experience working for the Athletic Department at the University of Richmond. For the past 10 years he has served as the Video Specialist for Athletic Public Relations and in charge of all SpiderTV. Prior to that, Ellett was the Assistant Video Coordinator for the Spider Football team.
In his current position, Ellett manages all SpiderTV video productions as well as assisting the in-game video boards at Robins Stadium and the Robins Center. Ellett also produces and directs all online streaming events for Richmond including football, soccer, field hockey, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, swimming/diving, baseball, women’s lacrosse, men’s lacrosse and track.
Ellett has also produced and directed select football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball games that were broadcast locally on WTVR 6 as well as nationally on NBC Sports Washington, MASN and Comcast. He will coordinate the Spiders’ move to ESPN+ in 2018 as part of the Atlantic 10 Conference video package.
In 2013, Ellett won an Emmy Award for best one-time sport special he co-produced and directed entitled Richmond Basketball: The Tradition Spins On in the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter.
Prior to Richmond, Ellett worked for the Richmond Braves, the Triple-A affiliate of Atlanta, for 10 years. Ellett started his tenure with the Braves as a cameraman and eventually rose to the position of Video Board Director. He managed a three-man camera crew and closely coordinated with the sound room to put together an entertaining production for fans.
A native of Mechanicsville, Va., Ellett graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in broadcast journalism.
Ellett currently resides in Mechanicsville, Va. with his wife Jennifer and their two children Kaleb and Beckett.
