Brittany Pinkney enters her seventh season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Spiders in 2025-26, continuing to help bring elite talent to Richmond.
Pinkney was pivotal in the Spiders’ historic 2024-25 season, which featured Richmond’s first-ever NCAA Tournament victory and back-to-back Atlantic 10 regular season titles. Richmond finished 28-7 overall and 17-1 in A-10 play, setting a program record with 17 consecutive wins. Pinkney’s impact was especially felt in the development of a deep and balanced roster, including First Team All-Conference selection Rachel Ullstrom, Second Team honoree Addie Budnik, and A-10 Player of the Year Maggie Doogan. The Spiders also notched high-profile non-conference wins over Oklahoma State, Columbia, and eventual NCAA Tournament teams, earning national recognition as one of just three mid-major programs to win a game in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. For her contributions, Pinkney was named to the World Exposure Report’s Mid-Major Assistant Coach of the Year Watch List and earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors at the 2025 SPIDYs Awards, marking back-to-back seasons of award recognition.
In 2023-24, Pinkney helped guide Richmond to its first A-10 regular season and tournament titles in program history, along with a trip to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship—the program’s first since 1991. She played a key role in coaching Addie Budnik, who was named A-10 Championship Most Outstanding Player, A-10 Defensive Player of the Year, and an All-Conference Second Team honoree. Pinkney also helped develop Maggie Doogan into a First Team All-Conference and All-Championship Team selection. She was named to the 2024 ABS Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach Watchlist and earned her first SPIDYs Assistant Coach of the Year honor.
In 2022-23, Pinkney helped coach the Spiders to another standout campaign, highlighted by a record-setting 119-55 victory over Longwood—the highest point total by a women’s team in Robins Center history. The Spiders advanced to the Atlantic 10 semifinals for the first time since 2009 and earned a berth in the WNIT, defeating Penn in the opening round. She helped guide Addie Budnik to Second Team All-Conference, All-Championship, and All-Academic honors, while Maggie Doogan earned All-Conference Third Team and All-Rookie accolades. Richmond finished the season second in the A-10 in multiple statistical categories, including field goal percentage (44.1%), three-point percentage (34.9%), and three-pointers per game (8.2).
In 2020-21, UR improved to 13-9, and Pinkney helped coach Kate Klimkiewicz to All-Conference honors.
Pinkney made an immediate impact in her first year (2019-20), helping the Spiders to a six-win improvement and a first-round Atlantic 10 Championship victory. She worked closely with the guard unit, including Claire Holt, who doubled her scoring average and finished second on the team in scoring.
Pinkney arrived at Richmond after two seasons as an assistant coach at Bucknell, where she helped the Bison set a program record with 28 wins and capture the 2019 Patriot League title. That team earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament and nearly upset Florida State in the first round. She coached standout guard Kate Walker to Second Team All-Conference and All-Tournament recognition.
In her first season back at Bucknell (2017-18), Pinkney coached two All-Patriot League guards—Kate Walker (First Team) and Kyi English (Third Team)—as the Bison posted a 22-10 record and earned a WNIT berth.
Before Bucknell, she spent four seasons at Mount St. Mary’s, helping the Mountaineers to 48 wins and their first WNIT appearance in program history during a 19-14 campaign in 2013-14. Two of her recruits earned All-NEC honors, and multiple players reached the 1,000-point milestone during her tenure.
Pinkney began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Salisbury (DIII), where she helped the team to a six-win improvement in her second season.
A four-year standout at VCU (2004-08), Pinkney served as team captain and played professionally in Slovakia from 2008 to 2010. She earned her bachelor’s degree in recreational parks and sport management from VCU in 2008 and a master’s in education from Salisbury in 2012.
Pinkney lives in Richmond with her husband, Kenneth Boone-Ofosu. The couple welcomed their son, Wesley, in June 2022.
