AJ Wahl enters his third season as Video Coordinator for the University of Richmond Women’s Basketball program in 2025–26. Since joining the staff in May 2023, Wahl has been a key contributor to the Spiders’ success through his expertise in video, analytics and game preparation.
“AJ has already made an impact in our program in his short time with us,” Head Coach Aaron Roussell said upon Wahl’s hiring. “He is ahead of his time with his knowledge of the game, and his tireless work ethic continues to pay big dividends for our players and the whole program.”
Wahl handles all aspects of video coordination, including practice and game film, opponent scouting, and analytics support. He plays a vital role in preparing scouting reports and integrating technology into the team’s day-to-day development and strategy.
Before Richmond, Wahl served as assistant varsity boys’ basketball coach at Trinity Episcopal School in Richmond, Va., for a season and a half. At Trinity, he oversaw video operations and analytics while also assisting with game strategy and lineup decisions.
Prior to that, he spent two years as a student manager for Villanova Women’s Basketball. With the Wildcats, he filmed practices and games, tagged video for scouting purposes, and produced recruiting evaluations. During his time with the program, Villanova went 24-9 in the 2021–22 season under Big East Coach of the Year Denise Dillon.
"I am so excited to be a part of this program and contribute to the winning culture of the Spider program,” Wahl said. “I hope my experience in video and analytics can bring new perspectives that help us reach our goal of an A-10 Championship and a deep postseason run!”
A native of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Wahl earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Villanova in 2022 and completed a master’s in Sport Leadership from VCU in 2023.
