Cimillo, Larripa, Peroni Sweep A10 Field Hockey Weekly Honors

WASHINGTON, DC – The University of Richmond field hockey team swept the Atlantic 10 Conference weekly honors to open the 2026 season, the league office announced Monday.
Amanda Cimillo collected defensive honors, while Clara Larripa picked up weekly offensive honors and Abril Peroni was named Rookie of the Week. The trio helped lead the squad to a 1-1 weekend, defeating Queens (NC) 12-0 Friday and holding No. 6 Duke to a lone goal in a 1-0 decision Sunday.
Friday, Richmodn matched a program record with 12 goals in a single game for the first time since 2009 against Saint Louis. Richmond's 36 points on 12 goals and 12 assists also ties the ninth most points in a single match in NCAA Division I.
Peroni paced the Spider offense against Queens, tallying her first collegiate points on four-straight goals over six minutes of action in the fourth quarter. The Córdoba, Argentina native closed out the Richmond scorning with a blistering shot off a penalty corner play with 40 seconds left in the contest.
Larripa tallied her fifth career hat trick at UR to open the season. The Buenos Aires, Argentina native tallied two goals in the third quarter before kick starting the scoring in the fourth quarter with a successful penalty stroke in the 49th minute.
Cimillo paced a defense that held Queens to only one shot to open the season. Against Duke, the Pleasant Valley, NY native allowed a goal in the second minute of action before making six saves, including three in the third quarter. Cimillo and the Spider defense did not allow Duke to a shot in the final 15 minutes of action and only relinquished five penalty corners in the game.
The Spiders are back in action on Friday, Sept. 4 heading north to take on American University at 3 PM. Sunday, Sept. 6, Richmond heads to Farmville to face Longwood at 1 PM. Both contests will be streamed on ESPN+.
