Muniz, Phillips, Shields and Wise Earn Atlantic 10 Postseason Honors

WASHINGTON – Atlantic 10 Conference announced Tuesday that 37 student-athletes were named to the Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field All-Rookie Team, while 21 earned Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic honors. The awards recognize student-athletes for their achievements both academically and athletically.

Among those honored were Hallie Muniz, Lydia Shields, Sydney Phillips and Molly Wise.

Shields and Phillips earned all-rookie honors. The recognition is awarded to student-athletes who posted the conference's fastest times or top marks in their respective events from the start of the season through the Atlantic 10 Championship.

Shields recorded a time of 36:33.93 in the 10,000 meters, while Phillips posted a mark of 12.05 meters in the triple jump.

Muniz and Wise were named to the all-academic team, which recognizes sophomores or higher who maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

An accounting major, Muniz earned silver medals in both the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:31.75 and the 1,500 meters in 4:27.47 at the Atlantic 10 Championships.

Wise, a psychology major, won the outdoor championship long jump title for the third consecutive year. She captured gold this season with a mark of 6.10 meters at the Atlantic 10 Championships.
