Spiders One Shot Back at Donald Ross Collegiate Classic
03/10/2026 | Men's Golf
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — With 18 holes remaining at the Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate Classic, Richmond finds itself in second place by the slimmest of margins, just one shot back of 36-hole leader George Washington. The Spiders sit at 8-under par (568), while the Revolutionaries are at 9-under (567). The A-10 rivals have created some separation between themselves and the other 18 teams in the field, all of which are six or more strokes behind Richmond.
While no Spiders shot under par in Tuesday's second round, sophomore Carson Baez and junior Quin Polin carded even-par 72s. Baez is part of a group of five golfers tied for third place at 4-under par (140), a group that includes Spider freshman Lucas Rizo-Patron, who shot 1-over (73) in Round 2. Anders Larson of Eastern Kentucky and Pedro Garcia of Bowling Green share the lead at 7-under par (137).
Poiln moved up three spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 15th at 1-under par (143). Senior Drew Carlin provided Richmond's final team score Tuesday, a 1-over 73, and is tied for 23rd in the field of 100 at 1-over par (145).
Junior Parker Moellinger is tied for 67th at 7-over par (151) after a 3-over 75 Tuesday.
Richmond leads the field in pars (114), fewest bogeys (29), and par-5 scoring (20-under par).
The Spiders will be seeking a second straight win in Wednesday's Round 3, as UR is coming off dominant victory at last month's Loyola Intercollegiate in Arizona.
Also Tuesday, a pair of Spiders wrapped up play at the Hampden-Sydney Invitational at Foxfire Resort in North Carolina. Sophomore Tommy Sharps finished tied for 90th at 21-over par (165) and sophomore Tyler Lee tied for 96th at 22-over par (166).
