RICHMOND, Va. — Spiders freshman Aiden Argabright was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Monday after averaging 15 points while shooting 67% from the field in Richmond's games at Davidson and against St. Bonaventure, the Atlantic 10 announced Monday. This is Argabright's fourth weekly A-10 Rookie honor, tied with VCU's Nyk Lewis for the most in the conference.
February 18 at Davidson, Argabright led all Spiders with 16 points as Richmond erased a 16-point deficit on the road only to fall 65-63 to the Wildcats. February 21 vs St. Bonaventure, Argabright had 14 points and a pair of steals as Richmond won 99-94 to sweep a home-and-home series with the Bonnies for the first time since 2014-15.
Argabright currently leads Atlantic 10 freshman with 10.9 points per game, 2.2 more than any other player. He also ranks among the A-10 freshman leaders in assists per game (second at 2.0) and steals per game (third at 1.2).
Among all Atlantic 10 players, Anthony ranks second with 126 free throws made and second in lowest turnover rate (8.1%) and fourth in offensive rating (125.3), via KenPom. He is the first Spider to win A-10 Rookie of the Week four times since Kendall Anthony did it in 2011-12 en route to being named A-10 Rookie of the Year.
Argabright and the Spiders will return to action Saturday on the road at Loyola Chicago for a 4 PM tip-off on CBS Sports Network.
