Richmond Tallies Two Wins, Multiple PRs at ASICS Last Chance Invite

Winston-Salem, N.C. – Richmond picked up two event wins and a series of personal-best performances Saturday at the ASICS Last Chance Invite, hosted at JDL Fast Track.
Senior Molly Wise led the way with a first-place finish in the long jump, posting a winning mark of 19-10.25 that was more than 6.25 inches clear of the field. Freshman Sydney Phillips added a fourth-place finish in the event with a career-best jump of 17-11.75.
Phillips also secured Richmond's second victory of the meet, winning the triple jump with a mark of 38-1.5.
Junior Alexandra Cahill turned in multiple strong efforts, qualifying for the 60m hurdles final in 9.10 before lowering her personal best to 8.98 to finish third overall. She also recorded a personal best in the high jump (4-7.50) to place fifth.
On the men's side, senior Cooper Groat ran a career-best 1:50.84 to finish third in the 800m. Freshman Jason Raffel followed with a personal-best 1:57.04 for seventh place, and Josh Gray added a personal-best 1:57.64 to finish 10th.
In the 3,000m, Alex Mastroly placed fifth with a personal-best 8:25.58. William Marhold (8:31.95) and Henry Haase (8:37.43) each recorded personal bests to finish 10th and 11th, respectively.
Richmond added two more personal-best performances in the 5,000m, where Patrick Doherty finished ninth in 15:24.10 and Jason Latina placed 14th in 15:54.23.
The Spiders wrap up the indoor season next weekend at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach on Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28.
