RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's soccer team struck first but settled for a 1-1 draw against Radford Thursday evening at President's Field. The result marked the Spiders' first tie of the season, moving their record to 3-1-1 while the Highlanders sit at 1-2-1.

How it Happened
After an even first half, Richmond grabbed the lead just minutes into the second half when Brigitte Bussiere capitalized on a loose ball and slotted home her second career goal into the top right corner. The goal marked her first of the 2025 campaign.

Radford responded in the 70th minute as Paige Olson set up Abby Walsh for the equalizer. The Highlanders continued to apply pressure late, but the Spiders' back line and keeper Veronica Rrapi stood tall.

Rrapi faced a season-high 14 shots and recorded a career-best eight saves, including several critical stops down the stretch. The sophomore denied three shots in a five-minute span between the 54th and 59th minutes, then turned away a flurry of attempts in the closing minutes to preserve the draw.
