RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond field hockey program has been selected to finish second in 2025 by the Atlantic 10 Conference coaches, the league announced Tuesday. Richmond was also represented by scoring threats Clara Larripa and Valen Luna Paratore on the 2025 Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Preseason All-Conference Team.
Richmond opens the 2025 schedule this weekend at Crenshaw Field, hosting Longwood Friday, Aug. 29 at 5 p.m. and 2024 National Champion and top-ranked Northwestern Sunday, Aug. 31 at noon. Richmond, coming off an 11-8 record in 2024 while finishing third in the A-10 Championship Tournament, is picked to finish second for the first time since the Spring 2021 season.
Last season, Larripa collected NFHCA All-South First Team, Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and All-Academic honors. The Buenos Aires, Argentina native finished the season with a team-leading 32 points on 12 goals and eight assists in 19 starts. A key to the squad's return to postseason action for the first time since 2021, Larripa was one of four players in NCAA Division I to score four goals in a game and the first to do so of the 2024 season on September 1 against William & Mary. Larripa collected NFHCA All-Atlantic Region First Team honors in 2023 as a member of La Salle's program.
Luna Paratore joined Larripa as a 2024 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team selection and an All-Rookie team member. She collected NFHCA All-South Region Second Team accolades. Also a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Luna Paratore finished second on the squad with 25 total points on 12 goals and one assist, while starting in all 19 contests as a forward. She was named A-10 Rookie of the Week four times, the most for the Spiders since at least the 2005 season. She had a career day against Lock Haven with a seven-point game including her first career hat trick and an assist on the team's fourth goal.
